Toffee Squares Recipe

Yield: 4 dozen

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups flour, sifted
  • 1 bar (8 ounces) milk chocolate or 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Cream butter and sugar.
  3. Add egg yolk and beat well.
  4. Stir in vanilla and sifted flour.
  5. Spread thinly on jelly roll pan (11″ x 15″) or cookie sheet.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until light brown.
  7. Melt chocolate and spread on cookies while still warm.
  8. Sprinkle with chopped nuts.
  9. Cut into 2″ squares.
