Raisin Squares Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 pound raisins, soaked in water
  • 1-1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°.
  2. Soak raisins in water until soft, then grind them.
  3. Cream together sugar and shortening.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla.
  5. Sift together flour, salt and baking soda.
  6. Add dry ingredients alternately with the milk, beating well after each addition.
  7. Stir in raisins.
  8. Flatten out in a greased 9″ x 13″ pan and bake for 20 minutes.
  9. Cool and cut into squares.
