Fudge Meltaways Recipe

Ingredients:

Crust

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 square unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Filling

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 tablespoon milk or cream
  • 2 cups sifted confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1-1/2 squares unsweetened chocolate

Instructions:

Crust

  1. Melt 1/2 cup butter with 1 square chocolate in a saucepan.
  2. Blend in sugar, vanilla, egg, cracker crumbs, coconut and nuts.
  3. Mix well and press into an ungreased 11-1/2″ x 7-1/2″ baking dish or a 9″ square pan.
  4. Refrigerate.

Filling

  1. Mix 1/4 cup butter, milk, confectioners’ sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
  2. Spread over crumb mixture.
  3. Chill.
  4. Melt remaining 1-1/2 squares chocolate and spread evenly over chilled filling.
  5. Refrigerate and cut into small squares before completely firm.
