Christmas Sand Tarts Recipe

Yield: 5-6 dozen

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1-3/4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • cinnamon sugar
  • nuts and/or candied cherries

Instructions:

  1. Cream butter and sugar.  Gradually add the egg.
  2. Sift the flour with the baking powder and add to the batter.
  3. Chill until firm.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°.
  5. On a floured board, roll half the dough at a time to 1/8″ thickness and cut with your favorite cookie cutters.
  6. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  7. Sprinkle the cookies with cinnamon sugar and decorate with nuts and candied cherries.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until slightly browned at the edges.
