Grasshopper Pie Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1-1/4 cups crushed chocolate wafers
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 24 large marshmallows
  • 2 ounces creme de menthe (green)
  • 1 ounce creme de cacao (white)
  • 1/2 pint whipping cream
  • grated chocolate for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Mix cookie crumbs and margarine.
  2. Press evenly onto bottom and sides of 9″ pie plate.
  3. Chill.
  4. Scald milk.
  5. Add marshmallows and allow them to melt, stirring often.
  6. Cool to room temperature.
  7. Add creme de menthe and creme de cacao to cooled marshmallow mixture.
  8. Whip cream until stiff and fold into mixture.
  9. Pour into chilled pie shell and freeze.
  10. Remove from freezer 20 minutes before serving.
  11. Garnish with grated chocolate.
