Freezes Well
Yield: 1-1/2 dozen
Ingredients:
- 1/2 pound raisins, soaked in water
- 1-1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 cups sifted flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup milk
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 400°.
- Soak raisins in water until soft, then grind them.
- Cream together sugar and shortening.
- Add eggs and vanilla.
- Sift together flour, salt and baking soda.
- Add dry ingredients alternately with the milk, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in raisins.
- Flatten out in a greased 9″ x 13″ pan and bake for 20 minutes.
- Cool and cut into squares.
