Meringues Recipe

These meringues turn out best if they are not made on a hot or humid day.

Make Ahead
Yield: 1 dozen

Ingredients:

  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 3/4 cup dates, thinly sliced

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 250°.
  2. Beat egg whites and salt until frothy.
  3. Add sugar gradually and beat until stiff.
  4. Beat in vanilla, and fold in nuts and dates.
  5. Drop by rounded teaspoons on greased cookie sheet.
  6. Bake for 30-45 minutes until firm.
