Rich Chocolate Cake and Frosting Recipe

Ingredients:

Cake

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Frosting

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 squares semi-sweet chocolate
  • 3/4 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Combine 1/2 cup butter and unsweetened chocolate in a saucepan and melt over low heat.
  3. Add sugar and egg, and mix.
  4. Sift together 1 cup flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  5. Add alternately with 1 cup milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla to chocolate mixture.
  6. Pour into a greased and floured bundt pan and bake for 30 minutes.  Let cool.
  7. Combine 2 tablespoons butter and semi-sweet chocolate in saucepan and melt slowly.
  8. Add confectioners’ sugar, 2 table-spoons flour, warm milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
  9. Cook slowly over low heat until mixture comes to a boil (about 15 minutes).
  10. Spoon slowly over cake.

Frosting is of a pudding consistency.
