Make Ahead
Serves 10
Ingredients:
Cake
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 squares unsweetened chocolate
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Frosting
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 squares semi-sweet chocolate
- 3/4 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Combine 1/2 cup butter and unsweetened chocolate in a saucepan and melt over low heat.
- Add sugar and egg, and mix.
- Sift together 1 cup flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- Add alternately with 1 cup milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla to chocolate mixture.
- Pour into a greased and floured bundt pan and bake for 30 minutes. Let cool.
- Combine 2 tablespoons butter and semi-sweet chocolate in saucepan and melt slowly.
- Add confectioners’ sugar, 2 table-spoons flour, warm milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
- Cook slowly over low heat until mixture comes to a boil (about 15 minutes).
- Spoon slowly over cake.
Frosting is of a pudding consistency.
