Plum Kuchen Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 6-8 plums, pitted and quartered
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400o.
  2. Combine flour, 1/4 cup sugar, salt, baking powder and butter and mix with a pastry blender until crumbs are formed.
  3. Press the crumbs in the bottom and sides of an ungreased 8″ square baking pan.
  4. Lay plums on top and sprinkle with 3/4 cup sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes.
  6. Reduce heat to 375°.
  7. Remove from oven, mix the 2 egg yolks with the heavy cream, and pour on top of the baked plums.
  8. Return to oven and continue baking for 30 minutes.
  9. Serve warm.
