Ingredients:
Crust
- 1 package (18-1/2 ounces) butter or yellow cake mix
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
Filling
- 2/3 cup reserved cake mix
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown
- sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1-1/2 cups dark corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions:
Crust
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Generously grease the bottom and sides of a 13″x9″ baking pan.
- Reserve 2/3 cup dry cake mix for filling.
- Combine the remaining cake mix in a large mixing bowl with the egg and melted butter.
- Mix well and press into prepared baking pan.
- Bake 15-20 minutes or until light golden brown.
Filling
- Combine all filling ingredients except pecans, and beat at medium speed for 1-2 minutes.
- Pour over warm crust and sprinkle with chopped nuts.
- Return to oven and bake an additional 30-35 minutes or until filling is set.
- Cool before cutting into squares.
- May be served warm with ice cream.
