Ingredients:

Crust

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine, melted

Filling

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 3/4 cup caramel ice cream topping

Instructions:

Crust

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all the crust ingredients.
  3. Blend well with electric mixer until crumbly.
  4. Press half this mixture into the bottom of an ungreased 9″ square pan.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven.

Filling

  1. Sprinkle the chocolate chips and nuts over the crust.
  2. Blend 3 tablespoons flour with caramel, and drizzle over the chips and nuts.
  3. Cover with remaining half of the crust crumbs.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Chill 1-2 hours.
  6. Cut into squares.
