Butter Crunch Crust Recipe

This is especially good for chiffon or cream pies, and it makes an excellent topping for cheesecake.

Yield: 9″ pie crust

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°.
  2. Mix all ingredients together with hands and spread in an oblong baking dish.
  3. Bake 15 minutes, then remove from oven and stir with a spoon.
  4. Remove 1/2 cup of this to reserve for topping.
  5. Immediately press the remainder on the bottom and sides of a 9″ pie tin.
  6. Cool, then pour in pie filling.
  7. Sprinkle reserved crumbs on top of filling and chill for 1 hour.
