Walnut Torte Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup finely ground walnuts
  • 1 cup cream, whipped andĀ flavored with vanilla and cognac

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375Ā°.
  2. Beat egg yolks with 1/2 cup sugar until pale yellow and thick.
  3. Add crumbs, baking powder and vanilla.
  4. Beat egg whites until stiff, gradually adding remaining sugar.
  5. Stir half the whites into the yolk mixture to lighten it.
  6. Add ground walnuts gently, then fold in remaining egg whites.
  7. Bake in a buttered 9″ square or round pan for 25 minutes.
  8. Serve warm or cold with flavored whipped cream.
