Freezes Well
Yield: 3 dozen
Ingredients:
- 1 cup shortening
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon hot water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1-1/2 cups flour
- 2 cups quick-cooking oats
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1 package (6 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cream shortening and sugars until fluffy.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Add vanilla.
- Dissolve baking soda in the hot water and add to mixture
- Sift the salt and flour together and add to mixture.
- Add oats, nuts and chocolate chips.
- Drop by half teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes.
