Make Ahead
Serves 12
Ingredients:
- 4 cups flour
- 1 pound butter
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 cup sugar
- jam for glaze
- 3 nectarines, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup ground walnuts
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 325°.
- Blend flour, butter, egg yolks,
- cinnamon, almond extract and sugar.
- Pour into two 9″ torte pans (shallow, ridged pans with removable rims).
- Bake until browned, about 20 minutes.
- Cool.
- Warm jam and paint cooled torten.
- Arrange sliced nectarines in a circle on torten.
- Heap walnuts in center; and if desired, top with more glaze.
